An opposition lawmaker from the Liberal Party on Monday denied that the alleged “LeniLeaks” controversy is a plot of Vice President Leni Robredo to unseat President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a statement, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said a “plain reading” of the email thread that went viral “does not manifest a design to destabilize the government or oust President Duterte.” He says, the emails simply call for Duterte’s “resignation.”
Perhaps the good Congressman failed to read this particular email:
Nowhere in this email does it mention “resignation.” On the contrary, its says “remove him from his position.” That’s “unseating” or “ouster” as far as I am concerned.
And the mention of “organized mass opposition to Duterte” sounds very much like destabilization.
Ironically, while he was trying to “deny” that Robredo was merely calling for “Duterte’s resignation,” the call was actually not from the Vice President, but from her supporters like Loida Nicolas-Lewis.
So maybe, Lagman was reading a separate thread of emails? Maybe he should share those emails with us!
